About Medical Gastroenterology
The Department of Medical Gastroenterology was started in the year 2005 which specializes in preventing, diagnosing and treating disorders of Digestive tract- esophagus, stomach, small intestine and colon, Biliary System, Liver and Pancreas. The Centre takes pride of having latest endoscopic equipment and performing specialized diagnostic and advanced minimally invasive therapeutic procedures in treatment of patients with a wide variety of gastrointestinal disorders.
The Department specializes in Image enhanced endoscopy like Narrow band imaging and Chromoendoscopy for early cancer detection of Gastro intestinal Tract. Various Advanced endoscopic procedures like ERCP, Endoscopic Ultrasound, Third Space Endoscopy like POEM procedure, Endoscopic submucosal dissection are performed by us.
Research topics span the breadth of gastroenterology and hepatology and include the study of novel treatments for liver and pancreatic diseases, investigation of new technologies used in the identification and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, as well as irritable bowel syndrome and other motility disorders, developing and evaluating cutting-edge endoscopic technology and procedures, liver transplantation and much more.
